Chakra re-alignment exercises for healing a sacral chakra imbalance. Have fun healing your sacral chakra by playing in water, collecting crystals, and connecting with your inner child!

Sacral Energy
I love the sacral chakra! It’s one of my favorites because the healing modalities that help bring it into balance can be so much fun.
The Sanskrit term for our sacral chakra, svadhisthana, translates to “dwelling in a place of the self”. I love this translation specifically, because our sacral chakra actually houses our inner child, which plays a major role in our self-healing process and we’ll talk a little bit about later. But I like to imagine my inner child living here in a little hobbit house in the woods and it’s super cute and just an excellent reminder to pay this part of the body some loving attention.
Our sacral chakra is associated with the element of water and the color orange. For many of us, our sacral acts as our emotional hub, helping connect us to our emotions and make decisions.
When this chakra is in alignment, we feel very fulfilled in the more pleasurable areas of our life. We feel confident in using our voice, speaking our truth, and asking for and receiving the things we desire. Whether that be sexually, or creatively for you, these juices will be flowing.

Sacral Chakra Out of Balance?
Physically, the sacral chakra is located just below the belly button and affects our reproductive organs, kidneys, spleen, bladder, and also our blood sugar levels. Physical symptoms of a blocked sacral could include back pain, irregular menstrual cycles, really, any type of reproductive issue in both males and females, UTI’s, kidney infections - basically anything going on in your guts down there could point to a sacral imbalance.
Sacral Chakra Emotions
From the spiritual perspective, a sacral imbalance could manifest in feelings of shame or guilt, especially when it comes to sex. Individuals with a blocked sacral could experience low libido or even no sex drive whatsoever.
This chakra is also closely connected with our throat chakra, so you might notice you have a hard time speaking your truth and communicating your wants and desires, which sucks, right? I mean, if you’re having trouble in the bedroom, but are too afraid to tell your partner, nothings gonna change!
Our sacral chakra is all about ease, pleasure, and creativity–which means that when blocked, we may find ourselves in a lack-mentality, feeling stuck, stagnant, and dissatisfied with our current life situation. Escapism is pretty common in people experiencing an imbalanced sacral and can show up in different forms of addiction from alcohol to porn to social media and everything in between.
Sacral Chakra Exercises

Immerse Yourself in Water
Practices aimed at healing the sacral chakra are some of my personal favorites (I’m a water sign). My first recommendation would be to get in water! Take a dip in the lake, go to the beach, take a tub. Even a slow, intentional shower can work wonders on healing this space. Just imagine the water cleansing your entire being and washing away any negativity or energetic blocks.
Get Creative
Another strong way to heal your sacral is to get your creative juices flowing! Think back to when you were a kid and some of the activities you used to do for fun. Maybe you loved to color - you can find adult coloring books everywhere!
Have vivid memories of playing with play-dough? Try your hand at sculpting or take a pottery class. I love to write, so sometimes when I feel stuck or uninspired, I’ll channel some poetry or a visualization meditation.
Meditation
Speaking of which, meditation is another great way to get your inner child on board with your sacral healing. By connecting to our inner child and hearing what they have to say, we can uncover issues that may have been plaguing us for years without even realizing it.
Just the other day, I was doing this guided inner child meditation I found on Insight Timer and a past version of myself told me how difficult it had been for me when my little sister was born. I had never realized how that had affected me before in my feelings of worthiness and need for quality time with others.
It was truly remarkable, I was so surprised that came up, but now I’m able to take that information and apply it when I experience feelings of neglect as an adult. It’s been especially good to know in relationship, when I told my husband about my experience, it connected a lot of dots for him, as well.
Therapy
Similar to our root chakra, our sacral energy center can harbor a lot of negative emotions. Individuals who have experienced sexual abuse or trauma might find this part of the body significantly difficult to heal on their own.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to ask for help when you need it. That could be from close friends or family, but no one can beat out a mental health professional when it comes to appropriate support in this area. Please do not think you have to do all of this healing on your own.

Diet & Nutrition
If you’re interested in complementing your sacral healing with a nutrition regimen, reach for juicy, orange fruits like mangoes, peaches, and nectarines. Heavier, root vegetables are also great for anchoring in that creative flow – think pumpkin, carrots, and sweet potatoes.
I’ve also read that oysters are great for the sacral chakra - makes sense since they’re also a known aphrodisiac. I’m wondering - can anyone speak to this? Each time I’ve had oysters I was pretty much the opposite of turned on (so slimy and gross).
But anyways, if you are an oyster lover and agree that they do work as an aphrodisiac, let me know! I’m so interested to know if it’s just an old wives tale, or if it really works.
Crystals
Certain crystals are also associated with the sacral chakra. Think of orange stones, citrus-y stones to heal this energy center, such as:
Amber
Unakite
Coral
Citrine
If you’re into meditation tools like this, I would also recommend lighting some palo santo or introducing some sandalwood essential oil to deepen the experience. Again, this is totally not necessary, but can be fun to try out from time to time.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I’ve created a Sacral Chakra 101 Workbook to complement your efforts in healing the sacral chakra, if you’re interested! You’ll find some journal prompts to help you connect with your inner child and spur creativity as well as a few of my favorite guided meditations you can find on Youtube and Insight Timer.
For maximum impact, I would complete one of the recommended guided meditations first, then see what comes up before you begin to write.
Of course, please remember to approach each of these exercises in your own time and take as long as you’d like to complete the lesson. This series is all about connecting deeply with yourself, learning how to heal, and most importantly, having fun. If that isn’t your experience, feel free to step away for a while and come back when you feel inspired. Either way, I’ll see y’all on the other side.
So Much Love,
Haley
